The Lybians rebels marched on Bani Walid, one of the last bastions Gaddafi

About 200 combat vehicles pro-CNT Saturday morning approached very close to Bani Walid, one of the last pro-Gaddafi, and are returned in the afternoon without meeting any armed opposition, said a journalist from AFP.

Rumor has it the oasis of Bani Walid as Muammar Gaddafi and several of his son might be hiding. But apart from a few charred char by NATO air strikes - their destruction did not appear recently - no sign of pro-Gaddafi was visible during the day.

About 600 men were mobilized for the operation, said Belhaj Ahmed, leader of a group of fighters. His troops thought be faced with the 32nd Brigade of Khamis al-Gaddafi, an elite unit commanded by the son of the former "Guide", but nothing.

PILLARS OF THE PLAN Gaddafi "ALWAYS IN THE CITY"

The forces of the new Libyan regime gave up Sunday morning to the city to surrender, said Saturday an official of the local forces. "The revolutionaries have given an ultimatum to the chiefs of Bani Walid: either they raise the white flag and they go, or start fighting. They have 24 hours from this morning," said Abdulrazzak Nadur, No. 2 military council of Tarhouna (about 80 km north of Bani Walid).

Several relatives of Muammar Gaddafi was recently in Bani Walid, a bastion of the old "Guide" on the run. Seif al-Islam, the most prominent son of Colonel Qadhafi, "was there two days ago in Bani Walid. He fled, only God knows what route he has taken," said Nadur. However, Saadi Gaddafi, and Moussa Ibrahim, the spokesman of the regime, and Mansour Daou, the head of the revolutionary committees, pillars of the regime, "are still in the city," he added.
